National Federation Heaquarters - a group of members went to London to visit the National Headquaters. After a toe curling ride to get to the station on time (we never did found out why the traffic was so bad), we arrived at Stockport station with minutes to spare. We had pre-booked tickets, and soon found our seats. Unfortunately, they were in the quiet zone, and it was not long before we were asked to be quiet. Who would have thought that a group of five WI members would be accused of making a noise!
We arrived in London, and took the tube to Parsons Green where we had a very pleasant lunch before heading off for our 2.00 p.m meeting. We were met with coffee and nibbles, and when all the members from the various WI's were seated, each WI had their photo taken with the President and Treasurer of the NFWI.
We then had a series of talks by various members of the team who explained their roles. It was extremely interesting as well as useful to meet the people who work behind the scenes. Then it was a tour of the building - which was a far cry from the one they previously owned in Belgravia, but was much more practical.
After a very nice meal in a restaurant opposite the tube, it was off on our journey home. No quiet coach this time.
