Sheila - After leaving the University of Manchester Careers Service, where I was the IT Manager, I joined the WRVS (now the RVS), helping at the local luncheon club and the Emergency Services. I then went on to work as a volunteer guide at Quarry Bank Mill in Styal. Showing school children around the Mill and Estate was fun, but, after 7 years, the up and down of all those stone steps took their toll, and I looked for something nearer home. I noticed an advertisement in the Inside Marple magazine for handbell ringers. I investigated and joined the Bells team and the WI. I was asked to join the committee, and then took over from Elsie Plant as Registrar. Elsie is a hard act to follow, but has been extremely helpful and organised as I try to get to grips with the role.
I am now also acting as lead on the IT projects.
